Microsoft support cannot locate your device, that is an automated process online on your Microsoft account.

If your laptop has been stolen, if you had the 'Location Services' setting enabled on the laptop and also the 'Find MY Device' setting enabled, you may be able to locate the stolen device.

Log into your Microsoft account on this link: https://account.microsoft.com/devices

Select the 'Find My Device' tab.

Select your laptop in the list, and click Find to see a map showing your device's location.

Note: your device location will not update on the map until the person who stole the device connects it to the Internet.

On that web page, you can also click the Lock option, that process will lock the device to protect your data on the device.

Take the following steps to protect data and attempt to locate the stolen Windows 11 laptop.

    1. Use Find my device (personal Microsoft account)
      1. On another device, go to https://account.microsoft.com/devices and sign in with the same Microsoft account used on the stolen laptop.
      2. Select the Find My Device tab.
      3. Choose the stolen laptop and select Find to see its last known location on a map.
      4. Share any location information with local law enforcement; do not attempt to recover the device personally.
    2. Lock the laptop remotely
      1. From the same Find My Device page and selected device, choose Lock > Next.
      2. This will sign out any active users and require the Microsoft account password to unlock, helping protect files even if someone knows the PIN.
      3. After locking, change the Microsoft account password and enable two-factor authentication to protect access to Microsoft services and other devices.
    3. If managed by an organization (work/school) If the laptop is managed by a company or school using Intune:
      1. Contact the organization’s IT/Help Desk immediately and report the theft.
      2. IT can use the Intune admin center to:
        • Go to Devices > All devices, select the device, and choose Locate device to view its location on a map.
        • Optionally enable Lost Mode or play a sound on supported platforms if configured.
      3. IT can also take additional actions such as remote wipe, depending on organizational policy.
    4. Protect accounts and data
      1. Change passwords for important accounts used on the laptop (email, banking, work accounts).
      2. Monitor accounts for suspicious activity and notify relevant providers if anything unusual is seen.
      3. If work data was stored locally, inform the employer’s IT/security team so they can assess risk and take further action.
    5. Report the theft
      1. File a police report with the device details (brand/model, serial number, color, approximate last known location, and date/time of theft).
      2. Provide any updated location information obtained from Find my device or organizational tools to law enforcement.

If additional documents or proof of ownership are requested (for example, by law enforcement or an organization’s IT department), prepare purchase receipts, serial number records, and any photos or records showing the device.
