Good day,

Please advise how to download invoices and make them sent by e-mail ?
Where do I find my virtual machines and the dashboard I used to use for many years ?

Hi Grzegorz , In the Azure portal you can (1) download invoices and (2) configure them to be delivered by email, depending on your billing account type and the roles you have.

1) How to download invoices

Sign in to the Azure portal.

Go to Cost Management + Billing.

Open Billing scopes (if you have multiple billing accounts/scopes) and select the billing scope you want.

In the navigation menu, select Invoices.

Find the invoice you want, then select … (ellipsis) → Download.

Select Prepare document and then Download when ready.

The Invoices page shows invoices and credit memos for the last 12 months.

2) How to make invoices sent by email

A) For MCA/MPA billing profiles (Billing profiles → Invoice email preference)

If you have the right permissions (you must be able to update invoice email preference):

Sign in to Azure portal → Cost Management + Billing

Select Invoices (left menu)

Choose Invoice email preference (top of the page)

If you have multiple billing profiles, pick the billing profile

Select Yes

In the additional recipients section, add the recipient email(s)

Select Save

After you opt in, users with the right roles on the billing profile can receive invoice email too.

B) Give other people permission to receive invoices (Invoice Manager role)

To allow others to view/download/pay invoices (and receive them by email if you opted in):

Cost Management + Billing → Billing profiles

Select the billing profile

Go to Access control (IAM) → Add

Role: Invoice manager

Select the user and Save

Notes:

You must have sufficient billing permissions to enable invoice email delivery (role requirements apply).

If the feature isn’t available for your agreement type (for example, certain partner-related scenarios), email invoice delivery may not be supported—then you’ll need to download from the portal instead.

In some cases invoices may not appear yet if they haven’t been generated (invoices are generated after the billing period).

3) About “the dashboard I used to use for many years”

The customer doc provided doesn’t include details about the older “dashboard” you remember. If you tell us what the dashboard name was (or what you used to see there—VMs list? billing summary? classic portal?), we can guide you to the closest current Azure portal area.

Hi Grzegorz , here’s how you can grab your invoices (and even have them emailed to you) and find your old Virtual Machines and dashboards in the new Azure portal.

Download invoices

Sign in at portal.azure.com and search for or select Cost Management + Billing.

If you have multiple billing scopes, pick the one you need.

In the left menu click Invoices. You’ll see a list of invoices for the last 12 months.

To download, either click the invoice row and hit Download invoice, or click the ellipsis (…) and choose Download.

Opt in to get invoices by email

Still under Cost Management + Billing, go to Invoices and click Invoice email preference at the top.

Select Yes (or Opt in) to “Receive invoices by email.”

In Additional recipients, click Configure recipients (or Add recipient) and enter any email addresses you want to CC.

Hit Save. Going forward, the system will send your invoices as PDF attachments each billing cycle.

Note: You must have an Owner or Contributor role on the billing profile (or Invoice Manager for MCA/MPA accounts) to change these settings.

Find your Virtual Machines

In the portal’s left-hand menu (or via the search bar), click Virtual Machines under Compute.

If it’s not pinned, hit All services, filter on “virtual machines,” then pin it for quick access.

From that blade you’ll see all your VMs, their status, and you can drill in to start/stop or manage each one.

Get back to your dashboard

Click the Dashboard icon in the top nav or left menu.

Under My dashboards (or All dashboards), pick the one you’ve been using.

If you ever customize a view (like pinning charts or VM blades), just click Pin to dashboard on any resource or chart, and it’ll appear there.

I could not understand the answer.
It did not work for me.
Still need to open portal.azure.com and manually navigate to the Billing to download the invoice.

To download Azure invoices and have them sent by email, and to locate virtual machines and dashboards, use the Azure portal as follows.

Download Azure invoices

For most subscriptions (non-EA, non-government):

Go to the Azure portal: https://portal.azure.com.
Open Cost Management + Billing.
If prompted, select the appropriate billing scope or subscription.
For MOSP (Pay-As-You-Go) subscriptions:
- Select Subscriptions → choose the subscription → Invoices.
- Select the invoice to download and then choose Download invoices.
- Optionally, in the same view, select the download icon and Prepare Azure usage file to get a CSV with daily usage and charges.

For Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA) / billing profiles:

In Cost Management + Billing, select Billing profiles.
Choose the billing profile.
Select Invoices and then select the invoice to download.
Make sure invoices are sent by email

The steps depend on the billing account type.

A. MOSP (Pay-As-You-Go) subscription invoices by email

Sign in to the Azure portal.
Go to Cost Management + Billing.
Select the relevant billing scope if needed.
Select Invoices on the left.
At the top, select Receive invoice by email.
In Receive invoice by email:
- Select the subscription where invoices are created.
- Under Status, set Receive email invoices for Azure services to Yes.
- Optionally set Email invoices for Azure marketplace and reservation purchases to Yes.
- In Preferred email, enter the primary email address for invoices.
- Optionally add Additional recipients.
Select Save.

Alternatively (subscription blade path for many MOSP subscriptions):

From the Subscriptions page, select the subscription.
Select Invoices → Email my invoice.
Select Opt in, accept the terms, and configure additional recipients.

B. Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA) billing profile invoices by email

Sign in to the Azure portal.
Go to Cost Management + Billing.
Select Billing profiles and choose the billing profile.
Select Properties.
In Invoice and Billing Notifications, select Manage settings under Invoice and payment contact settings.
Under Get invoices in email attachments, switch the toggle to On.
Add any additional email recipients if needed.
Select Save changes.

Notes:

To change email invoice preferences on a billing profile, an Owner or Contributor role on the billing profile (or its billing account) is required.
For MCA/MPA billing profiles, assigning the Invoice Manager role gives others access to view, download, and pay invoices and, if email is enabled, to receive them.
Azure Government customers cannot request invoices by email and must download them from the portal.

Find virtual machines and dashboards
