A Microsoft 365 subscription, if it is not pre-installed on a PC, is not device specific, it is linked to your Microsoft account and you can install the Office apps on more than one device at the same time, are you logging into the new device with the exact same Microsoft account as you used on the old device?

Log into your Microsoft account on this link, do you find two separate Microsoft 365 subscriptions listed on your account?

The subscription is tied to the Microsoft account it was purchased with, not to a specific laptop. Cancelling the old subscription will not affect a different Microsoft 365 subscription that was bought under another Microsoft account.

To cancel the old subscription yourself:

    1. Go to the Services & subscriptions page for that account: https://account.microsoft.com/services.
    2. Sign in with the same Microsoft account that was used to buy the old Microsoft 365 subscription.
    3. Find the old Microsoft 365 subscription and select Manage.
    4. Choose Cancel subscription (or Upgrade or Cancel) and follow the prompts.
      • If the page shows Turn on recurring billing instead of Manage or Cancel, that subscription is already set to expire on the date shown and will not renew.

If the old subscription was purchased through a third-party (for example, a retailer or an app store) and there is no cancel option, contact that retailer or app store to stop renewal.

To speak with a person about billing or cancellation, use Microsoft Support:

    1. Go to the Microsoft Support contact page: https://support.microsoft.com/contactus/.
    2. Sign in with the relevant Microsoft account.
    3. Select Microsoft 365Billing and Payment updates (or similar subscription/billing category).
    4. Choose Chat with a support agent in your web browser or request a call back if available.

This allows cancelling the old subscription while keeping the new one active under its own account.
