Family Safety controls to be deleted for adult child

My child has turned 18 and I want to delete all controls on her account (Windows 11, Microsoft 365 Office, Family Safety).

I cannot find any function in my Family Account controls that allows me to delete these controls.

I have been having long discussions with some Microsoft AI tool without receiving any useful information.

What do I need to do?

I understand you want to remove all control on your child account because she turned 18

To fully stop Family Safety controls from applying to your adult child’s account, her account needs to be removed from the Microsoft Family group. Once removed, the organizer will no longer be able to manage her Family Safety settings.

If you are the family organizer, sign in to the Family Safety page with the organizer account, select your child’s account, then choose Remove from family group.

If that option does not appear, first choose Remove consent for this child’s account, then go back and remove the account from the family group. Only a family organizer can remove another member.

Please note that once she is removed, you will no longer be able to manage her Family Safety settings, and she may also lose access to shared family benefits such as a shared Microsoft 365 Family subscription or shared digital purchases.

In the box below "We're here to help", type Microsoft 365, click "Get Help", and then click "Contact Support" below.
In this section, you will need to sign in to your Microsoft account.
Select "Microsoft 365 and Office" under Products & Services, select "Technical Support" as the category, and click to confirm

I have not yet tried it, as I want to keep her in the family group, this time as an adult. If I delete her account and then add her again, will that ensure that she does not loose any data?

Removing her from the Microsoft Family group does not delete any of her personal data. Her email, files (including OneDrive), and account settings will remain intact.

What it does is simply:

Stop Family Safety controls from being applied

Remove her from being managed by the organizer

Remove access to any shared family benefits (like shared Microsoft 365 Family subscription)

So if you:

Remove her from the family group, then invite/add her back again

Her account and data will still be there and you are just changing how the account is managed within the family group.

The only thing to be aware of is that shared benefits (like subscription access or extra storage) may temporarily stop while she is removed, but her personal files and account itself are not deleted.
