Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
To see what Microsoft 365 subscription is assigned and whether it’s set to renew, use the appropriate method based on the type of subscription.
For a personal/home Microsoft 365 subscription:
- Go to the Services & subscriptions page: https://account.microsoft.com/services
- Sign in with the Microsoft account used to purchase or activate Microsoft 365.
- Under Services & subscriptions, locate the Microsoft 365 entry. There you can see:
- The subscription name (for example, Microsoft 365 Basic, Personal, or Family).
- The status and expiration/renewal date.
- Whether recurring billing (auto-renew) is turned on or off.
- Select Manage next to the subscription to view more details and manage recurring billing, payment method, or renewal.
If the subscription was purchased through a third party (for example, Apple iTunes):
- Follow the guidance in Manage your Microsoft 365 subscription purchased through a third party to identify and manage that subscription via the retailer’s account/billing page.
- For iOS in-app purchases, go to device Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions to see:
- Which Microsoft 365 plan is active.
- Its renewal date.
- Whether auto-renew is enabled.
For Microsoft 365 for business (work or school) subscriptions:
If acting as an admin:
- Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?linkid=2024339
- In Simplified view, select Subscriptions; or in Dashboard view, go to Billing > Your products.
- The Your products page lists all subscriptions, including:
- Product name.
- Number of assigned and total licenses.
- Subscription status.
- Select a subscription to see more details, including term and renewal settings.
If not an admin for a work/school account, contact the organization’s Microsoft 365 admin or IT department to confirm which subscription is assigned and when it renews.
To check renewal/expiration behavior for Microsoft 365 for business:
- In the admin center, open the subscription and review Recurring billing:
- If recurring billing is on, the subscription will automatically renew on the listed date.
- If recurring billing is off, the subscription will end on its term end date unless renewed manually.
- As the subscription nears its end date, admins receive notifications in email and in the admin center with options to:
- Keep the subscription active by enabling or leaving Recurring billing on.
- Let the subscription end by turning Recurring billing off.
To verify renewal after action is taken:
- For home subscriptions, confirm the updated renewal/expiration date on the Services & subscriptions page.
- For business subscriptions, confirm the subscription status and next renewal date in the Your products page in the admin center.
