Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

To be able to assist you better, please share a screenshot of the devices under the "Sound, Video and Game Controllers" category in Device Manager.

    1. Press "Windows + X" and select "Device Manager";
    2. Expand "Sound, Video and Game Controllers".

Use the shortcut "Windows + Shift + S" to use the screenshot tool.

Also, what is the manufacturer and model of your laptop?

If you prefer, you can share a screenshot of your system information.

    • Press "Windows + R", type msinfo32 and press Enter.

Maximize the window and use the screenshot tool.

    Looking forward to your reply.

Follow these steps in order to isolate and fix the issue on Windows 11:

    1. Confirm Windows is sending audio to the correct device
      • Select the Speakers icon on the taskbar.
      • Select the arrow to the right of the volume slider (Select a sound output).
      • Make sure the built‑in laptop speakers (not headphones, monitor, or Bluetooth) are selected as the output device.
    2. Check hardware and basic volume controls
      • Make sure no cables or external speakers/headphones are partially plugged in; a half‑inserted plug can mute one side.
      • Ensure the laptop is not muted and volume is turned up.
      • If any external speakers/headphones are connected, unplug them and test the built‑in speakers again.
    3. Turn off audio enhancements
Sometimes enhancements can cause channel issues.
      • Select Start > Settings > Sound.
      • Under Output, select the device for the laptop speakers.
      • Scroll to Advanced settings and set Audio enhancements to Off.
      • Test audio again.
    4. Run the audio troubleshooter from Settings
(Different from the Get Help app, this is the built‑in troubleshooter.)
      • Select Start > Settings > System.
      • Select Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
      • In the Audio section, select Run and follow the prompts.
    5. Update or reinstall the audio driver
A driver problem can cause one channel to fail.
      • In the search box on the taskbar, type device manager, then open it.
      • Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
      • Right‑click the laptop’s audio device (for example, Realtek or similar) and select Update driver > Search automatically for drivers and complete the update.
      • If that does not help, right‑click the same device, select Uninstall device, check Attempt to remove the driver for this device, and select Uninstall.
      • Restart the laptop so Windows reinstalls the driver automatically, then test audio.
    6. Use the generic Windows audio driver (test)
      • Open Device Manager again.
      • Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
      • Right‑click the audio device > Update driver > Browse my computer for drivers > Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.
      • Choose the generic audio driver shown and install it, then test.

If sound still only comes from one side after all software steps, the remaining cause is likely a physical fault in the laptop speaker or internal wiring, which requires hardware service from the device manufacturer or a repair shop.
