Since 6/16 I have not been able to view calendars that are shared with me. I had the person who shared the calendar with me try to delete and then re add me but it gives her an error message.

    Hi @Jeanie,

Thank you for reaching out regarding the issue with shared calendars. I understand how important this is for your daily work, and I appreciate your patience while I troubleshoot.

Please try the following steps to help isolate and resolve the issue:

1/ Check Outlook on the web (OWA)

First, verify whether the shared calendar is visible in Outlook on the web. If it appears there but not in Classic Outlook, this typically indicates a client-side issue rather than a permissions problem.

2/ Have the calendar owner share via Outlook on the web

Since the owner encountered an error when trying to re-add your access, ask them to try sharing the calendar through Outlook on the web instead of Classic Outlook. This method is fully supported for Microsoft 365 accounts and can often bypass sharing errors.

3/ Reset the Outlook navigation pane

Close Outlook, then press Windows + R and run Outlook.exe /resetnavpane.

After reopening Outlook, try adding the shared calendar again.

    4/ Enable Shared Calendar improvements

Go to: File > Account Settings > Account Settings > (select your Exchange account) > Change > More Settings > Advanced tab.

Then enable “Turn on shared calendar improvements.”

Restart Outlook afterward and re-add the shared calendar.

You can turn on the shared calendar improvements with a checkbox.

5/ Re-add the shared calendar manually

In Outlook, go to: Calendar > Home > under Manage Calendars > Open Calendar > Open Shared Calendar.

Then search for and select the user’s calendar.

    6/ Contact your IT admin

If the issue persists, please contact your IT administrator to check your issue. They can check permissions or create a support ticket through the Microsoft 365 Admin Centerfor further investigation.

They can follow the steps here: Get support - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn

In classic Outlook for Windows, shared calendars can stop being visible if there is a permissions or sync problem. Use these checks and fixes on both sides (owner and recipient):

    1. Confirm the calendar is still shared with the correct permissions
On the owner’s computer in classic Outlook:
      1. Go to Calendar.
      2. On the ribbon, select the Folder tab, then select Calendar Properties.
      3. Open the Permissions tab.
      4. Under Currently sharing with, select the affected user and verify the permission level (for example, Can view when I’m busy, Can view titles and locations, or Can view all details).
If the user is missing, select Add, re-add the user, assign a permission level, and select OK.
      5. If the user is present but access is broken, select the user and choose Remove, select OK, then repeat step 4 to add them back and send a new sharing invitation.
    2. Have the recipient remove and re-add the shared calendar
      On the recipient’s classic Outlook:
      1. In Calendar, right‑click the shared calendar under Other Calendars and choose Delete Calendar (this removes it from the view, not from the owner’s mailbox).
      2. Use the new sharing invitation from the owner and select Accept when it arrives.
After accepting, the shared calendar should reappear in the calendar list.
    3. If the owner sees an error when re‑adding you
If Outlook shows “This calendar can’t be shared” or a similar error when the owner tries to share:
      • Check that the email address is valid and not a Microsoft 365 Group or an external address blocked by policy.
      • If the address is external to the organization, the admin may need to allow external calendar sharing.
    4. If sync errors appear on the recipient side
If the recipient sees sync errors related to shared calendars (for example, in the Sync Issues folder), enable the newer shared calendar model and re-add the calendar:
      1. In Outlook Desktop, remove the affected shared calendar(s).
      2. In the owner’s calendar properties, enable Turn on shared calendar improvements as described in Outlook calendar sharing updates.
      3. Restart Outlook Desktop.
      4. Re-share the calendar and have the recipient re-add it.

If these steps do not restore access, collect the exact error text the owner sees when trying to share and contact support via the Microsoft 365 admin or Outlook support channels for deeper investigation.
