Signature font disrupting since latest Outlook change

My signature is set to Aptos but since the latest outlook it displays as something similar to Times New Roman. It's all set up correctly in the 'manage signatures' area but when I compose a new message the fault doesn't display correctly.

Any ideas?

I just had this same new problem in Outlook for Mac for the last several days. My signature has been in Aptos font for a long time, but starting appearing in Times New Roman when I drafted/sent emails. But in Signature settings (preview) it appeared in Aptos as it should. Then I just now deleted that signature and recreated the same as a new signature. At first I had trouble getting the new signature to appear in Aptos at all, even in the Signature settings (preview). So I recreated it a second time, and now it appears to be working again in both the preview and the actual draft/send.

Weirdly, this process of recreating a signature seems to have turned on a sound notification when I receive new emails, which I've never had on. In fact, sound notification for New Message is still showing as off in my Outlook settings. So I toggled that setting on and back off, that didn't help, it is still playing a sound for new emails. Then I quit the Outlook app, reopened it, checked that sound notifications for New Message are still turned off (it is indeed off in settings), but yet I'm still hear the sound whenever I get a new email.

Just to help narrow things down a bit, could you please confirm a couple of points for me:

Are you seeing the same behavior when using Outlook on the web, or does it only happen in the new Outlook for Windows?
Also, does the signature appear correctly in the signature editor preview, but then display incorrectly only when you start drafting a new email?

At the moment, I haven’t come across any official communication from Microsoft confirming this as a known issue yet. That’s why I wanted to check a few details with you, just to see if your experience aligns with what I’m seeing as well. I’ll also keep an eye on this from my side in case other users start reporting the same behavior.

I’d also like to kindly mention that this is a user-to-user community forum, so I’m not part of the internal Microsoft product team. Like you, I’m also an end user, and I don’t have the ability to directly change or fix product behavior. Thanks for this! I'm only experiencing the issue in the Outlook Desktop App (for MAC), all fine in the Web version. And yes it views correctly in the signature preview - it only seems to corrupt when I compose a new e-mail or hit reply to an existing thread.

Thanks so much for getting back to me.

Since the issue is only happening in the Outlook Desktop App for Mac and everything looks fine in the web version, that’s a really helpful clue.

As a next step, could you please try creating a completely new signature from scratch and setting it as the default, just to see if the same behavior still occurs. Sometimes older signature configurations can carry over formatting quirks.

In addition, since it’s isolated to the desktop app, I’d also recommend clearing the app cache: Clear the cache in Outlook for Mac | Microsoft Support and then signing back in to check again.

If you have a chance to give these a try, I’d really appreciate it if you could share how it goes.

Aptos is now the default Office font, but Outlook may still render messages with a different font depending on where and how the signature is applied. To keep the signature in Aptos in new Outlook for Windows, ensure both the signature and the compose font settings are aligned and that the signature itself is correctly defined.

In new Outlook for Windows:

Open new Outlook and select Settings (gear icon).
Go to Accounts > Signatures.
Select the affected signature and choose Edit signature.
In the editor, explicitly set the font to Aptos and adjust size/color as needed.
Make sure the checkboxes at the bottom are set so this signature is applied to new messages and replies/forwards as desired.
Select Save.

If the body font is also involved (for example, Outlook is using a different default font for composing messages), adjust that as well using the Outlook font settings referenced in the Office theme documentation so that Aptos is the default compose font. This helps keep the signature and message body consistent.

If the signature was created or copied from another editor (like Word or a template) before the Aptos change, recreating it directly in the new Outlook signature editor with Aptos selected can also prevent fallback to a Times New Roman–style font.
