Follow these checks in order on Windows 11 to get location working.

1. Turn on Location services
   1. Select Start > Settings > Privacy & security > Location.
   2. Make sure the Location services toggle is On.
      • Turning on Location services requires administrator access.
2. Allow apps to use location
   1. In the same Privacy & security > Location page, make sure Let apps access your location is On.
   2. If the problem is with a specific app (for example, Camera, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Edge, etc.), scroll down to the list under Let apps access your location and ensure that app is turned On.
   3. For desktop apps (like Microsoft Edge), also ensure Let desktop apps access your location is turned On (if shown).
3. Check Windows location behavior for apps and browsers
   • When Location services is Off, Windows and apps cannot access device location, and some apps may not be able to access Wi‑Fi information.
   • When Location services and Let apps access your location are On, apps get coarse location by default, and you can choose which apps can use precise location.
   • Desktop apps do not support per‑app precise location control; they rely on the overall desktop-app location toggle.
4. If location still doesn’t work in Microsoft Edge
   1. Open Edge and go to edge://settings/privacy/sitePermissions/allPermissions/location.
   2. Under Allow, verify the website is listed or that the default is Ask (default), not Block.
   3. If the site is under Block, remove it.
   4. Confirm Windows location settings as in steps 1–2 above, and ensure Let desktop apps access your location is enabled because Edge is a desktop app.
5. If using a Cloud PC or Remote Desktop
   • On the local device (the one in front of you):
     1. Go to Start > Settings > Privacy & security > Location.

     3. Ensure the remote-connection app (for example, Remote Desktop client) is allowed to use location.
   • On the remote device (Cloud PC / virtual desktop):
     1. Go to Start > Settings > Privacy & security > Location.
     2. Turn Location services On.
     3. Turn Allow location override On so apps on the remote device can use the local device’s location.
6. Optional: reduce prompts when location is off
   • If apps keep asking for location when Location services is off and this is unwanted, go to Start > Settings > Privacy & security > Location and turn Notify when apps request location Off.

If location still does not work after these steps, verify whether any privacy or “anti‑tracking” tools (for example, tools that disable sensors or telemetry) are installed, as they can override Windows location settings and must be adjusted within those tools.
