Why can't I copy and paste comments in Microsoft Word?

I have several comments in one document that I need to transfer to a revised file. When I click on the comment, the options to cut, copy, paste, etc. are greyed out so I cannot select them. How do I fix this?

Maybe the piece of text that contains the comment should be copied.

There is no simple way to copy the comment text.

What you can do is choose to print a "List of Markup." Also, if you print using the Microsoft Print to PDF virtual printer, you get the output as a PDF. See the screen shot below of the File > Print interface.

Anything more flexible will require the creation of a macro.
