Issues or errors on the Microsoft Q&A website.
Old profiles and content from the previous Microsoft Answers / Support Community platform cannot be migrated or reattached to a new Microsoft Learn / Q&A profile.
When Microsoft Community (answers.microsoft.com) and Q&A (learn.microsoft.com) were brought together, only a subset of the most helpful and most viewed threads was migrated. Many older posts were archived, and posts that could not be associated with an active Learn profile were converted to show the author as “Anonymous.”
Key points for this scenario:
- Old Microsoft Answers profiles were not migrated into Microsoft Learn / Q&A profiles.
- There is no supported way to link historical posts (now often showing as “Anonymous”) back to a new or existing Learn profile.
- A new Microsoft Learn profile is required for ongoing participation on the current Q&A site.
- Even site admins or moderators cannot restore or reattach the old profile history to the new account.
So if the old questions now appear as “Anonymous” or are not visible, they cannot be migrated or recovered into the current profile.
