Why is Outlook suddenly deleting words in sent emails — same structure used for years without issues.

I’m using MS Office LTSC Professional Plus 2021 and I send class announcement emails in the same structure every time:

  • A greeting and a couple of sentences
  • A class schedule (sometimes typed as aligned text, but mostly formatted as a table)
  • A heading: Class Formats: after the class schedule
  • A bulleted list with In-person and Online classes after the table/class schedule

I have been sending emails in this exact format for years with no issues at all. However, within the last couple of weeks, Outlook started deleting words only after the email is sent, even though everything looks correct while I’m composing it.

Examples of what disappears in the sent message (after the table):

  • Class Formats (the colon stays, but the words disappear) - sent to me today as test email

In-person in the bulleted list

In one email, Outlook deleted part of the word instead of the whole word

In the past, nothing was deleted, even with the same structure. The words are not hidden behind the schedule or table — I checked. All emails are composed and sent in HTML format.

Since this only started happening recently and all previous emails with the same structure were fine, why is Outlook suddenly removing words only after sending, and why is it inconsistent?

Thank you

    Hi @Happy Teacher_63

Regarding your issue, may I kindly ask a few questions to help understand it better:

    • What's your exact Outlook build? Go to File > Office Account > About Outlook and share the version and build number on the top line.
    • Does it still happen in Safe Mode? You can test this by press Windows + R, type outlook.exe /safe, then send a test email.
    • How do you build that section typed fresh or pasted in? And if you paste it, where from (Word, an old email)? Leftover formatting from pasting is a common trigger.
    • Are the words completely gone, or just turned white? In the sent copy, highlight the empty-looking area after the table. If hidden words appear, the text is changing color, not being deleted.
    • Does it happen with every recipient, or only some?
    • Does it happen on a different device with the same account?
    • Have you tried clearing Outlook Cache yet? For reference: Trying to clear cache in Outlook.
      • In File Explorer paste this %localappdata%\Microsoft\Outlook\RoamCache and delete the all the cache files in it.
      • Before doing this, make sure all your emails are synced by checking Outlook Web Access to confirm nothing will be lost.
    • Would you be able to share a screenshot of how the email looks while you’re composing it, and then another screenshot of how it appears after it’s sent (from the sent or received copy)? Seeing both side‑by‑side will make it much easier to compare what changed during sending and help narrow down where the text is being altered.

Hope to hear back from you soon.
