Hello,

I am the sole Global Administrator of the tenant [Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed]. I am completely locked out due to an MFA bootstrap lockout.

Situation:

  • Tenant: [Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed]
      • Admin account: [Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed]
        • MFA method configured: Microsoft Authenticator ONLY
      • Backup methods: NONE (no SMS, no email, no recovery codes)
        - - I cannot access the Azure AD / Entra admin portal

          - - I am the ONLY Global Administrator on this tenant

          - This is a documented bootstrap lockout scenario. I cannot self-recover via the admin center.

        - Company: [Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed]

        - SIRET: [Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed]

        - Representative: Didier Roger

        - I am posting from this personal account as I cannot authenticate to my admin account.

      - I am requesting escalation to the Microsoft Data Protection Team for MFA reset or temporary bypass on the admin account [Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed]

  • Can a Microsoft moderator please contact me via private message to collect identity verification details and route this to the Data Protection Team?

Thank you.

    Hi Didier,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

I would like to provide you with the following information:

Moderators are unable to collect customer information or directly forward requests to Microsoft's Data Protection Team.

Instead, you will need to contact this team through the appropriate support hotline for your region.

Please look up the appropriate support phone number for your region and contact Microsoft's frontline support team. After that, ask them to create a support ticket for you through the following resource:

Tips for navigating the IVR system (Automated Phone Support System):

To help you navigate the IVR system more effectively, please refer to the guidance below:

    • When calling the support number, you may hear an introductory message that lasts approximately 30 seconds (for example: "You can visit the link..."). You may skip this part and wait until the system presents the available support options.
    • Then:
    •
      • Press "1" > Select Business Email User.
      • Press "1" again > Select Technical Support.

In some regions, the initial interaction may be handled entirely by an automated system. Below are some sample responses that you may prepare in advance:

    • What kind of problem are you experiencing? Answer: Authenticator
    • What products do you use? Answer: Office 365 for Business
    • Is this for an education or company account? Answer: For companies
    • Are you an administrator? Answer: Yes
    • Are there any other administrators in your organization? Answer: No. I am the only admin in my tenant.
    • Do you need a service request? Answer: Yes. I need to create a ticket. Please connect me directly with the Data Protection Team.

During the support process, you may be asked to provide subscription-related information such as:

    • Company/Organization Name
    • Billing Information
    • Contact Phone Number
    • Alternate Email Address

This information helps the Data Protection Team verify your identity and securely assist you in restoring access to your account.

I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if it works for you. If not, we can work together to resolve this.

Thank you for your patience and your understanding. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to share them in the comments on this post so I can continue to support you.

I look forward to continuing the conversation.
