How do I convert ALL 20,000 Word '97 2004 docs to my Microsoft 365 - and not one at a time!

I have had MS 365 on my Macs for TEN years, but find all my Word docs are in compatibility mode. Just bought new MacBook Pro and want to convert ALL my Word docs before I migrate them. You will appreciate I am good refugee camp engineer, but not very computer savvy

    To clarify, Compatibility Mode pertains to the program, not the individual document files. The deprecated .doc & ,dot file types as well as the initial wave of OOXML file types [.docx, .dotm, ..docm, .dotx] do not support some of the newer features which have been introduced as Office has evolved, including a completely overhauled graphics engine. The Compatibility Mode notification simply is to indicate why certain features are not available of may work differently.

    If you do want to upgrade the files there are numerous online services such as Zamzar. Most of them are free although I'm not sure how many files they will convert at once. .
