can not use excel to edit my documents

Question

i had office 365 on my computer then i got office home 2024 so i didn't have to keep paying every month

every time i go into excel it keeps asking me to renew my subscription and won't let me edit my documents

i put the office home on my laptop just after i got it on the 29/04/2026.

how do i fix the problem

Open Word.

At the top right of Word, log out of Office.

Restart (not shut down) your PC, then log back into Office, is your new Office licence then recognised correctly.

If that does not resolve the problem, open Word.

Go to File - Account.

Click the 'Switch Licence' button on that window.

Are you able to find the Office 2024 licence in the resulting list to switch to that licence.
