how to disable periodic scanning in Microsoft Defender

Norton gives me error messages when Defender runs a scan. How do I stop Defender from interfering with Norton?

    Hi I'm Brian.

    In my opinion, your approach should be to ditch Norton. The company that sells the Norton products was caught installing spyware on its customers' computers. Moreover, Defender is as good, if not better than Norton. Why pay for something that's included free with the operating system?
