Unable to renew Microsoft 365 Basic – InvalidRecurrenceState error

Hello,

I am unable to renew my Microsoft 365 Basic subscription. My previous subscription expired on 22 June 2026, and every attempt to purchase it again fails with the following error:

InvalidRecurrenceState

Example: InvalidRecurrenceState/[REMOVED]

This issue has been occurring for several days.

I have already tried the following:

  • Cleared my browser cache and cookies.
  • Used Incognito/Private mode.
  • Tried multiple browsers (Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome).
  • Tried purchasing from my mobile phone.
  • Removed all payment methods and added them again.
  • Verified that my payment method is valid.
  • Waited more than 48 hours before trying again.

My Microsoft account shows that my Microsoft 365 Basic subscription expired on 22 June 2026. My OneDrive storage is now over the free limit, so I need to renew my subscription as soon as possible.

This appears to be an issue with the subscription or recurring billing state on my Microsoft account.

Could someone please investigate my account and reset or repair the subscription state so I can purchase Microsoft 365 Basic again?

Thank you.

    Hello sarwan ramlal

I understand that you’re unable to renew your Microsoft 365 Basic subscription due to the InvalidRecurrenceState error. Since you’ve already tried the common browser, device, and payment-method troubleshooting steps without success, the best next step is to contact Microsoft Support directly so they can check the subscription state and billing profile on your account.

This is a user-to-user community forum, we can only share suggestions based on available information and personal experience. We don’t have access to your account, billing details, or backend subscription settings, so we’re unable to reset or repair the subscription state from here.

Here's how to reach out to the Support Team (live chat):

    1. Go to: https://support.microsoft.com/home/contact
    2. In the search box, enter a short description of your issue, for example: Microsoft 365 Basic renewal fails with InvalidRecurrenceState
    3. Hit "Get Help"
    4. Scroll down and select Sign in to contact support for further assistance (please sign in using a personal Microsoft account). Then follow the on-screen prompts to reach Support Team.

Tip: Support chat availability may vary by country/region, product, and support hours. If you can't get in touch with a chat agent right away, trying again later or at a different time may help.

Hopefully your issue will soon be reviewed. Thank you so much for your patience!

    Best regards.
