3xRAM is a recommendation from Windows 3.1 era. Recommended size for crash investigation depends on dump type selected. See types' description at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/debugger/varieties-of-kernel-mode-dump-files?source=recommendations Friend's recommendation is reasonable enough.

My concern is this. i have 128 gb ram .my system is using 15 gb of ram not usually that much more than that{turned off memory compression}. my concern is my system at system managed is creating around 20 gb of paging files. {i don't think i would mind if i lost out on that amount in ram}. still want to keep something in case of a system crash investigation]. internet generally advises 3xRam for max paging files. My friend advised 128mb for initial and max at 256~1024 mb {currently set}.
Need help checking if we made the correct choice.
Thanking in advance for your guidance.
