Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Dear @Lincoln Roberts,
If the old school account keeps reappearing in Microsoft Authenticator after you remove it, the account is typically still registered on the device through a work or school account, device management enrollment (Intune), or another Microsoft application. In these cases, removing the account from Authenticator alone may not be sufficient.
In this situation, I recommend contacting your former school's IT administrator and asking them to review and remove any remaining device registrations, authentication methods, or management associations related to your account. This can help prevent the account from being re-added to Microsoft Authenticator. You can also refer to this Microsoft support article for more information: Manage authentication methods - Microsoft Entra ID | Microsoft Learn
In the meantime, here are some suggestions you can refer to:
Remove the account from Microsoft Authenticator
- Open Microsoft Authenticator.
- Select the affected work or school account.
- Tap the Settings (gear) icon.
- Select Remove account.
Remove the account from the device
If the account remains configured on the device, it can be automatically re-added to Authenticator.
If your device is Android
- Open Settings.
- Navigate to Accounts or Passwords & accounts.
- Select the work or school account.
- Choose Remove account.
If it is iOS device
- Open Settings.
- Go to Mail > Accounts (or the account management section for your iOS version).
- Select the work or school account.
- Tap Delete Account.
Sign out of Microsoft applications
Applications such as Outlook, Teams, and OneDrive can retain account information and re-register the account on the device.
- Sign out of the old school account from all Microsoft applications.
- Remove the account from the device again.
- Restart the device.
