Hello Microsoft Support,
I would like to request assistance with restoring my Windows activation after replacing my motherboard.
- I purchased Windows 8 Professional directly from Microsoft Store on January 23, 2013.
- Order Number: WD<removed PII>
- I still have the original Microsoft purchase confirmation email.
- I also have the original Windows product key.
License History
- After purchasing Windows 8 Professional, I upgraded it through Microsoft's official free upgrade program to Windows 10 Pro.
- The system remained successfully activated for many years without any issues.
- Before replacing the motherboard, Windows reported a Retail license (Retail channel).
Current Situation
I recently built a new computer and replaced the motherboard.
Since then Windows can no longer be activated.
I have already tried:
- Signing in with the same Microsoft account.
- Running the Activation Troubleshooter.
- Selecting "I changed hardware on this device recently."
- Reinstalling my original Windows product key.
- Installing the generic Windows Pro key before activation.
- Running the activation commands recommended by Microsoft.
Unfortunately, activation still fails.
Current error code:
0x803F7001
My previous computer is still listed in my Microsoft account under Devices.
Request
Since this is a legitimate Microsoft Store purchase and I still possess:
- the original Microsoft purchase confirmation,
- the original product key,
- the Microsoft account used with this license,
I kindly ask you to verify my license and help restore or transfer my Windows activation to my new motherboard.
If required, I can provide:
- the original purchase confirmation email,
- the product key,
- screenshots,
- proof of purchase,
- any additional information you may need.
Thank you for your assistance.
Kind regards,
