Co-Pilot is crippingly slow when I type and when it answers. I have a 7800X3D 5070ti system. Windows 11 latest build.

I understand how frustrating that must be, especially on a system with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and RTX 5070 Ti where Copilot should normally feel responsive.

Just to confirm, are you using the Copilot app from Windows rather than Copilot in a browser? If the issue is occurring in the app, could you also try accessing Copilot through a browser such as Edge or Chrome and let me know if the same typing delays and slow responses occur there? This can help determine whether the issue is specific to the app or more broadly related to the Copilot service.

It would also be helpful to know when the problem started. Did it begin after a recent Windows update, Copilot app update or any other system changes?

In the meantime, I recommend repairing the Copilot app by going to Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Copilot > Advanced options > Repair. If the issue persists, try Reset and test again. If necessary, you can also reinstall the app from the Microsoft Store.

I also suggest testing Copilot from a new Windows user profile. To do this, open Settings > Accounts > Other users, select Add account to create a local account. next, choose "I don't have this person's sign-in information", then select "Add a user without a Microsoft account". After signing in to the new profile, test Copilot again. If the app performs normally under the new profile, it may indicate that the issue is related to settings or data within the current Windows profile.

Kindly also let me know your Windows build number and whether the slowdown occurs only in Copilot or in other applications as well.

I have not seen it do the same on the browser but I may have got lucky. I don't remember why it started or exactly when. Maybe a month ago. It also does it sporadically. I will start by trying to repair it.

Starting with the Repair option is a good next step. After repairing the Copilot app, please use it for a while and let me know whether the typing delays or slow responses continue. If the issue returns, it may also be worth noting whether your system is under heavy load at the time (for example, high CPU, memory or disk usage), as that can help narrow down the cause.

I actually noticed the problem is extending to other chats, as well as hanging on the Edge browser. I just updated various drivers and GPU driver for my 5070ti but the issue remains. This extends to typing within a browser sometimes. Strange. Do I start another thread?

Thank you for the update. Based on what you've described, I don't think there's a need to start a new thread at this point, as this may be related to the same underlying issue.

The fact that you're now seeing similar delays not only in the Copilot app, but also in other chats and occasionally while typing in Edge, suggests this may extend beyond Copilot itself. Since you've already updated your GPU and other drivers and the issue persists, that helps narrow down the scope.

To better understand whether this is related to your Windows profile or something affecting the entire system, I'd recommend testing from a new local Windows user account:

Open Settings > Accounts > Other users.

Select Add account.

Choose I don't have this person's sign-in information.

Select Add a user without a Microsoft account.

Create a temporary local account and sign in to it.

Once logged in, open Edge and Copilot and test whether the typing delays still occur.

If the issue does not occur in the new profile, that would suggest something specific to your current Windows user profile. If the issue continues in the new profile as well, that would point more toward a system-wide issue, which would help guide the next troubleshooting steps.

Before testing, could you also let me know whether the typing lag occurs in other applications such as Notepad or Word, or if you've only noticed it in browsers and chat applications so far?
