Issue with logging in on Microsoft websites?

Is anyone having a problem logging in onto Microsoft websites? The only that worked was logging into my computer, which is windows 11 and linked to my Microsoft account. I cannot log in onto any Microsoft website/feature such as Outlook, viewing passwords on Edge. It is consistently giving the following error:

"An error occurred during login"

I haven't changed my passwords in the last week or two, and yesterday everything was working fine with the exact same passwords (I don't enter it, it's just saved with a password passkey). I even tried switching devices, but that didn't work too. Thanks in advance

Welcome Seraphinenightfall14,

I understand how frustrating it can be when you can still sign in to Windows 11 with your Microsoft account, but you are unable to sign in to Microsoft websites and services such as Outlook and Edge password management, and you receive the message "An error occurred during login."

Before troubleshooting further, could you please clarify:

  • Are you using a personal Microsoft account or a work/school account?
  • Do you receive the same error when using a private/incognito browser window and a different internet connection (for example, mobile data)?

In the meantime, you can try these steps below to troubleshoot the issue:

Option 1: Try a private/incognito browser session

  • Open an InPrivate/Incognito window
  • Attempt to sign in again

Option 2: Clear Microsoft sign-in cookies

  • Open Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Clear browsing data > Choose what to clear > Clear now
  • Restart the browser and test again

Option 3: Test a different browser

  • If using Edge, try Chrome or Firefox
  • If using another browser, try Edge

Option 4: Temporarily disable VPN, proxy, or security filtering software

  • Disconnect any VPN connection
  • Retry the sign-in process

Option 5: Try the Microsoft account sign-in page directly

I hope the steps above help you deal with your issue.
