Outlook email not loading or syncing properly

I’m using Outlook.com through Microsoft 365 Basic. The web version won’t load my inbox and shows connection errors (ERR_BLOCKED_BY_RESPONSE). I’ve tried clearing cookies, resetting view, and refreshing, but the issue persists. How can I fix this or confirm if it’s a Microsoft server issue?

    Hi william schmidt

    Please reply with these details:

    • Does Outlook.com load in Microsoft Edge with extensions disabled?
    • Does it work in an InPrivate or Incognito window?
    • Are you using any ad blocker, VPN, antivirus web protection, proxy, or DNS filtering service?
    • Does the same account load in the Outlook mobile app or on another device?

Meanwhile, try these steps in order:

    1) Check Microsoft’s service status first

Go to Microsoft service health status and expand Microsoft consumer products to check whether Outlook.com is currently affected.  You can also check Microsoft’s Outlook.com recent issues page here: Fixes or workarounds for recent issues on Outlook.com.

If Microsoft shows an active Outlook.com issue, the problem is likely service-side. If no issue is listed, continue with the steps below.

    1) Disable ad blockers, pop-up blockers, and privacy extensions

The error ERR_BLOCKED_BY_RESPONSE often points to something in the browser or network blocking part of the Outlook.com page from loading. Please temporarily disable ad blockers, pop-up blockers, privacy extensions, or script-blocking extensions, then reload Outlook.com.

If Outlook.com works after disabling them, add Outlook.com to the extension’s allowlist or exception list.

    2) Test in Microsoft Edge with extensions disabled

Open Microsoft Edge and go to Outlook.com.

Then turn off extensions in Edge:

    • Select Extensions.
    • Choose Manage extensions.
    • Turn off the extensions temporarily.

See: Add, turn off, or remove extensions in Microsoft Edge | Microsoft Support

If Outlook.com loads in Edge, the issue is likely caused by the original browser’s configuration, extension, or content-blocking setting.

    3) Try a private browser window

Open an InPrivate or Incognito window, then sign in again at Outlook.com. If it works there, go back to your normal browser and turn extensions back on one at a time until you find the one blocking Outlook.com.

    4) Try another network

If Outlook.com still shows ERR_BLOCKED_BY_RESPONSE, try a different network, such as a mobile hotspot. If it works on another network, the issue may be caused by your current Wi-Fi, VPN, proxy, firewall, antivirus web protection, or DNS filtering service. Temporarily turn off VPN/proxy filtering if you use one, then test again.

    5) Check whether Outlook works outside the web browser

If you need immediate mailbox access, try using the Outlook mobile app or the new Outlook app while troubleshooting the web issue. This helps confirm whether the mailbox itself is working and whether the issue is limited to Outlook.com in the browser.

    6) Contact Outlook.com support if the issue continues

If Outlook.com fails in multiple browsers, with extensions disabled, and on another network, please contact Outlook.com support while signed in: Outlook.com > Help > type the issue > Still need help? > Yes

Please tell me how it goes. If the problem persists, please don’t hesitate to reply to this thread and I will be happy to help. Have a lovely day!
