My Windows profile is still linked to an old Microsoft account that I no longer use. My Microsoft 365 subscription is under my current gmail account. Outlook and Windows keep trying to authenticate the old account.

    Hi juan brooks,

In addition to Hornblower’s steps, Windows may still have saved credentials for the old account.

    • Close Outlook.
    • Search Windows for Credential Manager.
    • Open Windows Credentials and review entries associated with the old email address, Outlook, or Office.
    • Remove only the entries clearly belonging to the old account, then restart the computer and sign in with the current account.

Credential Manager allows saved sign-in credentials to be viewed and removed. Credential Manager in Window . Please avoid removing credentials if you are unsure which account they belong to.

    Thank you for your understanding.

Outlook and Windows keep trying to authenticate the old account.

    This is two different processes:

1 -- Change your Windows Microsoft Account
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5599442/how-i-change-my-system-microsoft-account-to-other

2 -- Change your Outlook email account

    Add the new email account
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/getstarted/add-an-email-account-to-outlook-for-windows

Remove the old email account [Classic Outlook]
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/remove-or-delete-an-email-account-from-classic-outlook-for-windows

Remove the old email account [New Outlook for Windows]

    • File -> Account info -> Accounts -> Your accounts
    • Click the [Manage] button next to the account
    • Click the [Remoe] button at the bottom of the screen
