    @mike tilson

    Do you need further assistance with this? Emily's question from July 18, regarding the specific product name, is crucial.

    Starting in the middle of July, you also need to run macOS Monterey or later (because Office won't run under older versions). See John Korchok's article at https://www.brandwares.com/bestpractices/2023/03/most-recent-office-you-can-run-best-practices/ . Official documentation from Microsoft can be found at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/lifecycle/officeinstall/update-m365-office-macos-ios. For more details, have a look at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365-apps/mac/certificate-update-mac-ios (the article is primarily written for admins, but it contains relevant information for all users).

    Hi mike tilson,

    To better identify the cause, please provide the following information:

    • Where was the product key purchased (Microsoft Store or a third-party retailer)?
    • Is this the first time you're using the key, or are you reinstalling Office?
    • What is the exact Office product you purchased (for example, Office Home 2024, Office Home & Business 2024, Office Professional Plus, Office LTSC, etc.)?

    In most cases, the product key must first be redeemed and associated with a Microsoft account before the product can be installed. Once redeemed, the key cannot be used again and the license remains permanently linked to that account.

    In the meantime, please verify the following:

    1. Make sure the product key is entered exactly as provided.
    2. If this is a retail Office license, redeem the key at https://setup.office.com while signed in with your Microsoft account.
    3. Check whether the license has already been associated with a Microsoft account by visiting https://account.microsoft.com/services.
    4. If you receive a specific error code or message, please share a screenshot (with the product key hidden).

    If you have further information, please feel free to let me know.
