Edge canary on android youtube fullscreen has 1px white line above fullscreen video playback.

Question

Seems as if the aspect ratio checks for the screen size vs video format then tries to max the screen but the math is one pixel too short to fill entire screen leaving a 1px with line at the top of the LCD screen. similar to when you attempt to figureout the dimentions of the video to fit within the max dimentions of the viewport or screen.width & screen.height getting the math wrong possibly due to pixel rounding like instead of fullscreen being 1920x1080 the video on fullscreen mode only goes to 1920x1079 and the top row is white instead of blacked out.

Hello, good day and thanks for your question. I understand that you have a concern with regards to the YouTube fullscreen has 1px white line above fullscreen video playback on Edge for Android Canary build.

As this is Edge Canary, regressions like this can happen because it contains experimental changes that haven’t reached the stable release.

Here are some troubleshooting steps, that you can try but it will also be best to still report this as a feedback from the browser itself for this to be corrected before the stable release:

1. Compare with other browsers.
   • Test the same YouTube video in stable Edge, Chrome, Brave, or Firefox.
     • If only Edge Canary shows the white line, it’s likely a Canary regression.
2. Try different playback modes.

• Fullscreen in portrait and landscape.
• Enter fullscreen by tapping the video versus rotating the phone.
  • Play different aspect ratios.

1. Check whether it’s YouTube specific.
   • Play fullscreen videos on another site.
   • If the line appears everywhere, it’s probably Edge’s fullscreen renderer.
2. Disable Edge experimental flags.
   • If you’ve enabled flags via edge://flags, reset them to default.
   • Restart the browser afterward.
3. Clear Edge Canary’s cache.
   • Settings > Apps > Edge Canary > Storage > Clear cache.
   • If that doesn’t help, try Clear storage (note that this signs you out and resets the browser settings).

paulr0511, thanks again, by the way, it is now fixed Edge and Edge Canary. Canary, The Edge Dev no longer opens so I just removed it from my system because I never really used it anyway since it still had the line at the top of the screen when I was attempting to download different versions of edge to try to get around that. Anyway, as of right now both Edge Canary and Edge browser no longer having this issue. So either somebody changed something in the CSS for YouTube website. Both Canary and Edge got some kind of an update behind the scenes, but as of right now again, hopefully not temporarily. There is no white line at the top in either of the two versions of Edge.

Sorry to know about this that this is happening even on the other builds of Edge and as mentioned above is that it will also be best to still report this as a feedback from the browser itself and at the time being you can also opt to downgrade Edge by choosing which version this was previously working.
