Well, it worked for a while then stopped.

Windows 10 up to date

I tried:

Turning app off then on

Repair setting from app
Reinstalled app

Still nada.
I have apps working in background.
Watched every possible YouTube video on fixes and mine still wont work

Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thx

    Welcome Dee Vee,

I understand how frustrating it can be when Live Photos in the Microsoft Photos app on Windows 10 worked previously but has stopped working again, and reinstalling, repairing, and re-enabling the feature have not resolved the issue.

Before proceeding, could you please clarify:

    • Are the Live Photos from an iPhone, and do they still animate correctly on the phone itself?
    • Does the issue affect all Live Photos or only recently imported ones?

In the meantime, you can try these steps below to troubleshoot the issue:

Option 1: Check the Microsoft Photos app version

    • Open Microsoft Store
    • Go to Library
    • Select Get updates
    • Install any available update for Microsoft Photos

Option 2: Reset the Photos app completely

    • Open Settings > Apps > Apps & features
    • Select Microsoft Photos
    • Choose Advanced options
    • Select Reset

Option 3: Verify the required video component is present

    • Open Microsoft Store
    • Search for HEVC Video Extensions
    • If installed, select it and check for updates

    Option 4: Re-import a small test set

    • Copy several known working Live Photos directly from the iPhone
    • Save them to a local folder such as Pictures
    • Open them from that folder instead of OneDrive

I hope the steps above help you deal with your issue.
