Query on ICS Calendar event

Hi All,

I have a question regarding .ICS (iCalendar) files stored in SharePoint site.

One of our user uploaded a calendar invite as an .ICS file to a SharePoint document library and shares the SharePoint link with other users. Currently, when recipients click the SharePoint link, the browser prompts them to download the .ICS file. After downloading, they open the file in their calendar application (such as Outlook) and then click Save to add the event to their calendar.

Our requirement is to avoid the download step. Instead, we would like the .ICS file to open directly allowing users to review the invitation and click Save without first downloading the file.

Please guide me how to achieve this.

SharePoint Online does not provide a native browser-based preview experience for .ICS (iCalendar) files. When users access an .ICS file stored in a SharePoint document library, the file is downloaded and then opened by the associated calendar application (such as Outlook). As a result, the download step cannot be removed through SharePoint settings.

There is currently no supported SharePoint configuration that allows an .ICS file stored in a document library to open directly in a web-based invitation viewer with a Save/Add to Calendar button.
