    Hi Nancy Needham-Conard,

If the same USB power source previously charged your laptop and has suddenly stopped working, the issue may be related to the USB port's power delivery, the charging source, or a temporary hardware communication problem rather than Windows itself.

You can try this additional check - USB power settings:

    1. Open Device Manager.
    2. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
    3. Open each USB Root Hub device.
    4. On the Power Management tab, uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

Please also follow these quick checks:

    • Test a different USB port (if available) on the power source or docking station.
    • Try another USB cable to rule out a cable issue.

If the laptop only fails to charge from the workplace USB source, the power supplied by that port may no longer meet the laptop's charging requirements.

    1

    Boot your laptop into BIOS.

Check for any setting available in there for USB charging to ensure that is enabled.

    2

Open Device Manager (accessible by right clicking your Start Button)

    Expand the Batteries section

For each device in that section:

    Right click and choose Disable

Wait a second or two, then right click and choose Enable

    Close Device Manager

Restart your laptop and check if the battery is charging correctly.

    3

If that does not resolve the problem, are you able to charge your laptop using a power adapter connected to the power port?
