Managing personal Outlook.com account settings, security, and privacy
I understand that your Hotmail account was compromised, and you can no longer receive emails.
To help determine the correct next step, are you still able to sign in to your account right now, or are you completely locked out? Also, are all incoming emails missing, or only messages from certain senders?
If you can still sign in, please secure the account immediately:
- Go to: https://account.microsoft.com/security > Manage how I sign in
- Remove any unfamiliar sign‑in methods
- Check the list of devices associated with your account
- If you notice anything unusual, change to a strong password and Sign out everywhere
- Turn on Two-step verification: How to use two-step verification with your Microsoft account - Microsoft Support
- Check Recent activity: https://account.microsoft.com/activityand choose This wasn’t me/ Secure your account for anything you don’t recognize.
Also in Outlook.com, go to Settings (gear icon) > Mail > Rules and delete any rule you did not create, especially one that moves or deletes incoming messages.
If you cannot sign in, please follow the Microsoft’s official guidance here: How to recover a hacked or compromised Microsoft account
Please note that this is a public user-to-user forum, I cannot access or investigate account-specific information, change mailbox settings, or restore access on the customer’s behalf.
I truly appreciate your patience and understanding.
