A family of Microsoft word processing software products for creating web, email, and print documents.
Hi الفيفي,
I’m sorry you’re going through this issue, and I appreciate you sharing what happened along with the error details.
As a forum moderator, I genuinely wish I could directly access your account or review the backend systems to diagnose and resolve this issue for you. However, our role here is limited to providing general guidance by offering clear next steps, sharing applicable resources, and directing you to the appropriate support channels so you can work with the right team to investigate further.
Based on the information provided, the error appears to be related to Microsoft Word not being able to validate the current account credentials or authentication token.
While the laptop not being registered with your educational organization could be a factor if your organization requires device registration or compliance, the fact that other Microsoft apps are working normally and the issue only occurs in Word suggests this may also be caused by a cached credential, expired token, or Office activation state issue specific to Word.
Here are some steps you can try:
1/ Sign out of Office and close all Microsoft 365 apps
If possible, please open Word and sign out of the current Office account first:
- Go to File > Account.
- Select Sign out for the current account.
- Close Word after signing out.
Then, please close Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and any other Microsoft 365 apps. To make sure everything is fully closed, you may also open Task Manager and end any remaining Microsoft 365-related processes before continuing.
2/ Disconnect and reconnect the work or school account
- Go to Windows Settings > Accounts > Access work or school.
- Select your educational organization account.
-
- Choose Disconnect.
- Restart the laptop.
- Go back to the same location and connect the account again.
3/ Clear cached Office credentials
- Open Control Panel.
- Go to Credential Manager > Windows Credentials.
- Remove any saved credentials related to Microsoft Office, Microsoft 365, Office365, or your school account.
-
- Restart the laptop again.
- Then launch Word and sign in using your educational organization account.
- Check whether the account error and Copilot access issue are resolved.
If the issue persists after completing these steps, please contact your education IT department and share the error details above, as this will help them determine whether the sign-in is being blocked by device registration requirements, Conditional Access policy, license assignment, or a local Office credential issue.
Additionally, if needed, your IT team can also raise a support ticket with Microsoft Support through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center for deeper investigation. They have access to backend configurations and can perform a more in-depth investigation. At the very least, they can provide the most effective workaround to ensure your experience remains smooth and secure.
