Outlook invites - how to disable “Do Not Send a Response” option

As the title says, is there a way to disable the "Do not sent a response" option, when sending out invites for mandatory meetings/training? I feel like I am constantly chasing people to see if they are attending or not, as they have accepted/declined without sending a response (I know they are only doing it that way so as not to clog up the senders inbox), and it's making it so hard to plan for catering, etc.

I have seen the feedback thread about it, but it's like nothing is being done about it by Microsoft.

And yes, I have tried adding text to invites regarding accepting/declining with a response, but still, most people don't read that! It makes organising things so frustrating!!

Hi Ryan

Unfortunately the Department I work for cannot disable the function, as it would disable it for around 2000 staff. How about an option for the sender to turn it off? Or even better, Microsoft update it so that even is someone chooses not to send a response, it updates the tracker. Because to accept an invite and the organiser to be able to see if someone is attending or not kinda defeats the purpose of sending anything at all.

At this time, there is no separate setting available specifically for meeting organizers or invitation senders.

I have added feedback to a thread that looks to be more than 3 years old, where Microsoft are 'considering' it. It takes 3 years for a decision to be made on something that should ultimately be a function from the start and literally do what it states?

Based on your description, I understand that you would like to disable the "Do Not Send a Response" option for meeting invitations to help you manage attendee responses more effectively.

To make this change, you must have administrator privileges in your tenant. If you do not have administrator rights, please contact your organization's IT department and ask them to perform the following steps:

Open Registry Editor and navigate to one of the following keys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\Calendar

or

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\Calendar

Select Edit > New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.
Name the new value:

ForceMtgResponse

Right-click ForceMtgResponse and select Modify.
Set Value data to 1.
Click OK.
Close Registry Editor.

Result: Outlook will completely hide the "Do Not Send a Response" option, requiring users to send a response when they accept, decline, or tentatively accept a meeting invitation.

Note: You may need to restart Outlook for the change to take effect.
