A family of Microsoft spreadsheet software with tools for analyzing, charting, and communicating data.
Hi Edite Sammons,
Please try the following steps:
- Test with a new workbook
- Open Excel and create a new blank workbook.
- Enter some data and check whether File > Save becomes available.
- Check macOS permissions
- Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security.
- Ensure Excel has access to locations such as Documents, Desktop, or any folder where you are attempting to save files.
- You can also temporarily grant Full Disk Access to Excel for testing.
- Try saving locally
- If the workbook is stored in OneDrive, SharePoint, a network location, or opened from an email attachment, create a new workbook and attempt to save it directly to your local Documents folder.
- Verify Microsoft 365 activation
- Confirm that Excel is signed in with your Microsoft account and that Office is activated.
- If necessary, sign out, restart Excel, and sign back in.
- Update Office
- Run Microsoft AutoUpdate and install any available updates for Microsoft 365 Apps.
To help identify the root cause, please provide:
- Your macOS version
- Your Excel version/build (Excel > About Microsoft Excel)
- Whether the issue occurs with a brand-new workbook
- Whether the files are stored locally or in OneDrive/SharePoint
If you have further information, please feel free to let me know.
