The file list created with cmd does not include tags. Is there a Windows 11 method or other means to output a file list that includes tags? Preferably the list allows comma or tab separated data. The files are .jpg and tags were assigned in Photoshop Elements. The tags do appear in the tags column in File Explorer and can be edited in the Properties/Details. I would like to list the file name, creation date, modified date, tags, file type and size. I hope to create a separate list for each folder containing photos either by making one list of all subfolders in a parent folder named Photos-final, or by separately creating a list for each lower-level folder containing the .jpg files.

Eventually, I am hoping to save a huge photo library (45,000 files) to external drives and place a paper printout of files on each drive and each folder on the drive.

A few details would help narrow down the best solution:

What type of files are you working with (JPG, PDF, DOCX, MP4, mixed file types, etc.)?
Are these Windows "Tags" visible in File Explorer when you add the Tags column?
Do you need:
- Filename + Tags only, or
- Additional fields such as path, size, and modified date?
1. Approximately how many files are involved, and are subfolders included?

The answer may depend on whether the metadata is stored in the file itself and whether the file type supports the Windows Tags property. Some file formats expose Tags through the Windows Property System, while others do not.

I think your idea is possible by using PowerShell or Terminal.

This is the command for listing .jpg files with File Name, Creation Date and Modified Date.

Get-Item *.jpg | Select Name,@{n='Created';e={$_.CreationTime}},@{n='Modified';e={$_.LastWriteTime}}

Check for their EXIF metadata

$shell=New-Object -ComObject Shell.Application; $folder=$shell.Namespace((Get-Location).Path); $folder.Items() | ? {$_.Name -match '\.jpg$'} | % { $_.Name; for($i=0;$i -lt 320;$i++){ $name=$folder.GetDetailsOf($null,$i); $value=$folder.GetDetailsOf($_,$i); if($value){ '{0}: {1} [{2}]' -f $name,$value,$i } }; '' }

You will get their metadata with the id uses for the next command.

Example if you want to list their Dimensions and you get response Dimensions: ‪951 x 237‬ [31], please mind the ID 31.

Then use the ID 31 in this command.
