Airpods connect via Bluetooth but only show as output device. Not available as input device. Formerly worked as both using same computer. [moderator's note: moved from Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Teams for business | Meetings and calls | Audio and video]

Windows for home | Other | Devices and drivers

    Hi Lemoine, Richard,

I understand how inconvenient this can be, especially since your AirPods previously worked as both the speaker and microphone on the same computer.

To help narrow this down, could you please let us know:

    • Are you using Windows 10 or Windows 11?
    • Do the AirPods appear under Settings > System > Sound > Input or are they missing only from Microsoft Teams?
    • Does the AirPods microphone work in another app?
    • Did this start after a Windows, Teams or Bluetooth driver update?

In the meantime, please try the following:

    • Open Settings > System > Sound and check whether AirPods Microphone, AirPods Headset or AirPods Hands-Free is available under Input. If available, select it and test the microphone.
    • In Teams, open Settings and more > Settings > Devices, then check whether the AirPods can be selected separately under Microphone.
    • Open Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone and make sure Microphone access, Let apps access your microphone and Let desktop apps access your microphone are enabled.
    • Remove the AirPods from Bluetooth & devices, restart the computer and then pair the AirPods again.
    • If the microphone still does not appear in Windows, check for an updated Bluetooth and audio driver through Device Manager or your computer manufacturer’s support page.

While my initial response may not fully resolve the issue, I truly appreciate your cooperation as we work together toward identifying the most effective solution. Thank you so much for your understanding.
