Hi

I have a question regarding Copilot mysteriously disappearing from shared access for a user on a 365 family subscription. This was up until recently available on their outlook and it appears that after the recent update this is no longer available. Have there been changes to subscriptions and is there another fee payable for the other user to use this now??!

    Hello loukelly,

I understand that Copilot was previously available in Outlook for another user sharing your Microsoft 365 Family subscription, but it disappeared after a recent update, and you would like to know whether the subscription terms have changed, or an additional subscription is now required.

First, please note that Copilot features in Outlook and the other Office apps are available only to the Microsoft 365 Family subscription owner. They are not included for other people using the shared Family subscription. A shared family member may have seen Copilot previously because the owner’s licensed account was also signed in to Outlook on that device, but this does not give the member a separate Copilot entitlement.

If the affected account is the subscription owner but Copilot has disappeared, please try the options below and check whether the issue continues:

    1. Check Services & subscriptions to confirm whether the affected account is the subscription owner or a shared member.
    2. Update Outlook to the latest version.
    3. In an Office app, select File > Account > Update License, then close and reopen all Office apps.
    4. You can also try turning Copilot off, restarting Outlook, and then turning Copilot back on to refresh the feature after the update. See: Turn off Copilot in Microsoft 365 apps
    5. Check that Connected Experiences is enabled in Outlook’s privacy settings.
    6. If using Windows, try the new Outlook, as Copilot sharing across connected accounts is not supported in classic Outlook.

Please let me know how it goes after trying these steps, and I'll be glad to continue looking into it with you.

    Hi Norah

Thank you for your response. I had no idea you had replied to my question, as I did not receive an email notification and I am following this question. I am the subscription owner, although the separate outlook email that is affected is one I use for work purposes. Copilot was indeed available on this separate email account up until recently. If this has changed to increase revenue I find this pure greed!
