Hello,

I created a new Outlook.com account:

******@outlook.dk

Immediately after creating it I started contacting suppliers for my business.

Now every outgoing email is rejected with:

550 5.7.520 Message blocked because it contains content identified as spam. AS(4810)

This happens even when:

  • Sending a plain text email
  • No signature
  • No links
  • No attachments
  • Sending to my own Gmail account

The messages never reach the recipient.

Could a Microsoft engineer please review my account and tell me why all outbound messages are being blocked?

Thank you.

Hi. I'm Brian and I'll try to help.

First, keep in mind that most of us don't work for Microsoft. These are user-to-user forums. We're just like you, users trying to help each other. We can't access your account.

New accounts are very limited in how many messages you can send, although Microsoft doesn't publish a hard-and-fast number for that limit. You should not send out multiple messages all at once if the messages are all very similar in their wording. Contact merchants slowly over time to update your address. The best approach is to log into your accounts on the merchants' web sites and update your address within the accounts. Try to avoid doing it by email or, as I said, only do a few at a time. This way your account can build up what Microsoft calls its "reputation" and you won't get flagged as trying to send spam.

This isn't a very satisfying answer, but it's the truth nonetheless.
