    Hi Rondal King,

Since the laptop is brand new and the red charging indicator is on, the charger is likely providing power, but Windows may not be properly detecting the battery's charging state.

As a quick check, you can:

    1. Click the battery icon in the taskbar and confirm whether it shows "Charging", "Plugged in, not charging", or "Battery not detected".
    2. Open Device Manager > Batteries and verify that Microsoft AC Adapter and Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery are listed without warning symbols.
    3. Perform a full shutdown, disconnect the charger for about a minute, then reconnect it and power the laptop back on.

If the battery percentage still does not increase after these checks, the issue may be related to the battery, charger, or the laptop's charging hardware. Since the device was newly purchased, it would be a good idea to contact the laptop manufacturer or retailer to review warranty or replacement options.

I hope this helps point you in the right direction. Let me know if you need further assistance, feel free to ask me by clicking "Add Comment" or "Add Answer" if you cannot add comment so your response will be visible. Thanks for your effort.

    Hello

Is it just the light itself staying red? What about the battery status? Does it show 100%, or is it still on low %?

If it is 100% but the light is still red, contact laptop manufacturer support while it is still within warranty; it can be a light issue.

If it is still on a low percentage even though it has been charged for a long time, try a different power outlet if you can. Turn the computer off completely and keep it plugged in; see if it eventually turns to 100% once turned on. If it still won't charge while it is turned off, you also want to contact manufacturer support, because it has nothing to do with Windows. The laptop should continue to charge when Windows is not running.
