Does anyone have an idea how to get my office 365 to be standalone and not have to function through my Outlook? Therefore every time I use Word or Spreadsheet it takes me online to use office. Which can be quite irritating. Help!

I'm using Windows 11

Thanks, Mike

Hi, @michael may

If your Microsoft 365 subscription includes the desktop apps, you can install Word and Excel on your Windows 11 PC. Go here: https://account.microsoft.com/services Sign in with the Microsoft account used to purchase Microsoft 365. Find your subscription, then select Install apps.

After installation, open Word or Excel directly from the Windows Start menu. They will work separately from Outlook, although you may occasionally need an internet connection for activation and updates.

A few questions to narrow this down:

  1. Which Microsoft 365 plan do you have: Personal, Family, or work/school?
  2. When you search for Word or Excel from the Start menu, do you see the installed apps?
  3. Does clicking Word currently open a browser window?
