Do I need to reinstall Microsoft 365 after I renew?

Microsoft 365 was installed on my computer in 2024. I activated/renewed the application and paid for another year. I am now being prompted to install the desktop apps even though they already exist on my computer. If I click on the install button will I lose the documents I've already made or will the apps simply be updated? Even though I've paid, I'm still unable to create or edit documents. I have a Mac.

Thank you. I'll give this a try later today. What will happen to the documents and files I've already created and saved?

If the apps are already installed, you shouldn't have to reinstall.

On the apps, like Word, or Excel, go to Files > Accounts, click on Update License, then sign in and see if it works.
