Sending, receiving, and organizing email in Outlook.com
Hi OutlookUser
Please reply with:
- Does the issue happen only with J.Crew, or with other retailers too?
- Did J.Crew receive any bounce-back or delivery error?
- Is your Outlook.com storage full or close to full?
- Do the messages appear under the Other tab or when searching All folders?
Since you already checked rules, Safe Senders/contacts, Junk Email, and Deleted/Trash, please try these remaining checks:
1) Check whether the messages are hidden by Focused Inbox or filters
In Outlook.com, check both the Focused and Other tabs. Then select Filter above the message list and choose All.
Also search across All folders using details such as:
- The retailer name
- The sender domain
- The order number
- “J.Crew”
2) Check mailbox and Microsoft cloud storage
If your Outlook.com mailbox or Microsoft cloud storage is full, new mail may not be received. Go to Outlook.com > Settings > General > Storage and confirm your storage is not full.
If storage was full when J.Crew sent the receipt, the sender may need to resend it after you free up space.
3) Check forwarding
Go to Outlook.com > Settings > Mail > Forwarding. If forwarding is enabled and you do not use it, turn it off and save the change.
4) Check Sweep or cleanup actions
If you previously used Sweep or another cleanup action for promotional or retailer emails, it may be moving or deleting future messages from that sender.
Search for an older message from the same retailer, open it, and check whether there is an active Sweep action for that sender. If you find one, remove or adjust it.
5) Ask J.Crew for the delivery status
Please ask J.Crew support whether their purchase confirmation messages to your Outlook.com address were:
- Accepted
- Rejected
- Bounced
- Delayed
If they received a bounce-back or delivery error, ask them to provide only the non-private error code and the general message text.
6) Ask the sender to review Microsoft sender guidance
If the messages never reach Inbox, Junk, Deleted Items, or any visible folder, the retailer’s sending system may need to review sender guidance for Outlook.com delivery:Sender Support in Outlook.com | Microsoft Support
If their sending IP address is being rejected, their mail administrator can also use Microsoft’s sender delisting portal: Delist IP - Delist IP
7) Contact Outlook.com support if J.Crew confirms Microsoft accepted the messages
If J.Crew confirms the messages were accepted by Microsoft but they still do not appear anywhere in your mailbox, contact Outlook.com support from the affected mailbox: Outlook.com > Help > search for “missing emails” or “not receiving email” > Still need help? > Yes, if that option appears.
Please note that community moderators cannot check mailbox delivery logs or backend filtering from this public forum.
Please tell me how it goes. If the problem persists, please don’t hesitate to reply to this thread and I will be happy to help. Have a lovely day!
