Welcome David Millet,
I understand how frustrating it can be when your Bluetooth speakers are connected, but the audio sounds choppy or distorted, as if there is a weak connection.
Before proceeding, could you please confirm:
- Does this happen only with Bluetooth speakers, or also with wired speakers/headphones?
- When the audio becomes choppy, are you playing local audio files or streaming content from the internet?
Building on the earlier suggestions, you might also consider the following options:
Option 1: Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter
- Open Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters
- Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter
Option 2: Check the Bluetooth audio service
- Press Windows + R and type
services.msc - Locate Bluetooth Support Service
- Restart the service and set Startup type to Automatic
Option 3: Update the Bluetooth adapter driver
- Open Device Manager
- Expand Bluetooth
- Right-click the Bluetooth adapter and select Update driver
Option 4: Disable power management for the Bluetooth adapter
- In Device Manager, open the Bluetooth adapter Properties
- Select the Power Management tab
- Clear Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power
Option 5: Restart the Bluetooth audio device
- Remove the speaker from Settings > Bluetooth & devices
- Restart the PC
- Pair the speaker again and test the audio
I hope the steps above help you deal with your issue.
