Windows-11 restarts again and again while booting from USB or Upgrading from Windows 10.

I've Laptop LG Gram 15Z990-T.APPP with Windows-10 installed. The problem that after installing Windows 11 or clean install from USB it restarts again and again at the startup i.e LG Logo with a tiny spinning dot and this loop continues. Also there are no UEFI firmware updates provided by Microsoft Update Catalogue. Moreover, tried everything like Enabling and Disabling Secure Boot, TPM, CSM and Legacy, but nothing.

It is worthing mentioning that, once used to freeze at the LG Logo without any spinning but after a UEFI Firmware Update from Microsoft made it to let go the freeze.

Please provide some more detail on this problem, what version of Windows is now installed on your laptop, is that Windows 10 or 11, and are you now unable to boot into Windows, are you just seeing the spinning dots?

If you are unable to boot into Windows, are you able to force your laptop into the Recovery Environment using these steps.

Start your laptop, just as Windows attempts to load (spinning dots), press and hold Power Button for 5 - 10 seconds to perform a Hard Shut Down

Do this twice

On the third start Windows will boot into the Recovery Environment and from there you can access System Repair, Safe Mode, Command Prompt... etc.

Currently I'm running windows 10 without any issues. But when I insert the USB to run windows 11 it restarts again again and no boot. Also once I upgraded it from win 10 to win 11, the issue was the same as with Usb.

And the recovery environment of windows 10 is working well.

Boot your system into BIOS, in there, disable CSM Support and enable Secure Boot.

Does your system then boot normally into Windows?

If so, the most successful method to upgrade to Windows 11 is to use the Windows 11 ISO.

Please ensure you download the ISO in the same language as you use for the Windows UI, follow the steps, this is then not like re-installing Windows, it is just like an update and your personal files, settings and installed software will not be affected.

When the ISO file completes downloading

Disconnect from the Internet

Disconnect all external devices with the exception of a mouse or keyboard.

Temporarily disable any 3rd party Anti-virus you may have installed

Then, in Windows File Explorer, double click the ISO and then run Setup.exe and select the Install option.

Very Important - ensure you select the option to keep your files and apps.

Disabled CSM Support and Enabled Secure Boot in the BIOS. Also tried upgrade from Windows ISO downloaded from Official Microsoft Website, but the moment it restarts after the upgrade, it comes to the startup (LG Logo), then it restarts again and thus again and this loop continues. I think something is not letting the windows Kernel to handshake with BIOS or something else, the system restarts earlier than starting Windows Kernel. By the way, I tried each and everything I could find in internet but nothing could solve the problem and support from Microsoft was the last option.

This sounds like there may be a problem in BIOS have you checked on the LG website to see if there is any BIOS update available that may need to be installed.

Yes, I contacted LG Support, but they replied that LG doesn't provide any updates on its website to be directly downloaded, rather it has LG Update Centre Application wherein drivers can be updated, but there are no updates related to the BIOS in LG Update Centre App. Also approached some experts regarding any issue in the BIOS, but everything was found OK in the BIOS. As I said earlier, few months ago, when I upgraded the Windows 10 to Windows 11, it froze there at the startup, then I installed windows 10 again, but after an UEFI firmware update from Microsoft solved the issue, now there is no freeze, but restarts and again.

When your system goes into the boot loop, do your see the LG logo screen ,then the spinning dots and it reboots, or do you not see the spinning dots?

Yes, it comes to the LG Logo Screen, sometimes with one spinning dot and sometimes with no spinning dots.

In that case, this does seem to be a BIOS problem rather than a Windows problem, and I cannot see any problem indicated in your System Information configuration. if the spinning dots are not appearing, because you have an 8th gen Intel processor, it may be best to stay on Windows 10 on that device, the extended security updates on Windows 10 are available up to October 2027.
