Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.
This issue usually happens on Windows 11 because the system automatically assigns the printer to a WSD (Web Services for Devices) port. WSD ports frequently lose connection whenever the printer enters sleep mode, causing Windows to report it as offline.
The best way to fix this permanently is to completely remove the printer from Windows and reinstall it using the full HP software package, which sets up a much more stable TCP/IP connection.
Here are the steps to fix it:
- Go to Settings, then Bluetooth & devices, then Printers & scanners. Select the HP Smart Tank 7302 and click Remove.
- Restart (not shutdown) the computer (Restarting clears out active print spooler processes and prevents file conflicts during the new installation.)
- Go to the HP support page for this model (link below) and download the package "HP Easy Start Printer Setup Software (Internet connection required for driver installation)".

- Open the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to the Wi-Fi network so the installer can detect it.
This will replace the unstable WSD port with a reliable driver setup and keep the printer online.
