Why has onedrive hacked my system.

Question

onedrive has hacked my sytem and forcibly removed my files so I can't use them until I purchase a licence.

How do i get my files back without paying for a ransomware fee to 'upgrade storage' that I don't want or need

I didn't subscribe to this onedrive hack in the first place and its taken over my system.

I uninstalled this junk and now its done it again. Turned on my system and its hijacked all my files and is holding them to ransom.

Thanks for your answers. I never installed, used or wanted this ransomware though. Why did it hijack my files in the first place? How do I get rid of it without paying the ransom price to get my files back.

I know its somehow attached to windows and I refused it permission to install and hack my files in the first place. All of a sudden its on my system with its AI counterpart and proceeds to lock me out of my files.

I want my files back and for these ransomware hacks to be blocked from my system.

Is there a virus scanner that will permanently delete this ransomware.

There are no attachments etc in my email. I have emptied all the trash and old emails. There are currently 4 emails on there and none of them have attachments. Still I can't use my email to receive mails due to 'lack of storage'.

It has locked away my entire documents folder and I can't use or access any of those files without paying a ransomware price now.

All I keep getting is red crosses all over my files.

It tells me to log into my onedrive. It then tries to send me a verification code which goes to an email that is locked behind its own 'lack of storage' hack.

Most likely, OneDrive folder backup was enabled for Desktop, Documents, or Pictures, and Files On-Demand then made some files online-only. A blue cloud beside a file means it remains in OneDrive but is not currently stored locally. This is separate from ransomware.

You do not have to purchase additional storage to retrieve your existing files. Sign in at OneDrive.com, confirm the files are there, select them, and choose Download. Save them to an external drive or a folder outside OneDrive. If the files appear in File Explorer with blue-cloud icons, right-click them and select Always keep on this device.

After confirming that local copies open correctly, select the OneDrive cloud icon > Settings > Sync and backup > Manage backup, disable the backed-up folders, and choose Keep the files only on my PC. You can then unlink or uninstall OneDrive if you do not want to use it. Please do not delete anything from the synchronized OneDrive folder until the local copies have been verified, because deletions can synchronize across devices.
