I have a Microsoft 365 account. It is current and I paid for the 1 yr. subscription last November. It is only July and I got a notice today saying that I needed a Microsoft 365 subscription to continue using Outlook, Work, Excel, etc. It won't let me login and says my Apple ID doesn't have a paid subscription. I can show you my cc receipt. You can't talk to anyone EVER from Microsoft which is insane. I am not about to pay for another subscription when my current one has yet to run out. Does anyone have any advice. #microsoft365andOfficesubscription

    Hi Tara,

Don’t purchase another subscription yet. The first thing to check is where the original subscription was purchased.

If your receipt is from Apple, go to Settings > your name > Subscriptions and check whether Microsoft 365 appears as active under the same Apple ID. If it is active but the apps cannot recognize it, try restoring the previous purchase.

If the receipt is from Microsoft, sign in at https://account.microsoft.com/services using the Microsoft account used for the purchase. Your active plan and expiration date should appear there. In this case, the Apple ID message may mean that the app is checking the wrong purchase account.

Microsoft explains where subscriptions should be managed here:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/accounts-billing/subscriptions/where-can-i-manage-my-microsoft-365-subscription?wt.mc_id=studentamb_576487

For an Apple purchase that is not being recognized, try these steps:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/accounts-billing/office-for-mac-payment-error-code1007?wt.mc_id=studentamb_576487

Does the receipt show Apple or Microsoft as the seller, and are you using a Mac, iPhone, or iPad?
Please dont upload the full receipt or any card information publicly.

If it was purchased via Microsoft, you want to make sure you install from Microsoft, not from Apple App store, and use your Microsoft account to log in, not your Apple ID.

    Please uninstall the apps.

    Then reinstall this way:

Sign into the Microsoft account you used for the subscription. Click on the 9-dot icon on the upper left > More apps.

Then on the upper right, click on "Install apps". This will now download the installer file. Once downloaded, click on the file to install. It will install the Desktop version of the apps for you then.

If for any reason you hit the 0x0 error, download the updater https://support.microsoft.com/office/office-for-mac/troubleshoot-microsoft-autoupdate-in-microsoft-365-and-office-for-mac?apid=ets

My MacOS version is Tahoe 26.5.2 It was purchased from Microsoft.

Since you purchased your subscription directly from Microsoft, you should be able to use your Microsoft account to install and activate Office. Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services .
