Leftie using OneNote on iPad

Question

I'm left handed and trying to use OneNote on my iPad with an apple pencil. I've turned the draw with touch setting off and have configured the stylus orientation to my writing style, however when I write my palm is still being picked up before the pencil which is then either drawing lines randomly across the screen or messing up my writing. Any tips would be appreciated.

At the minute it doesn't seem like OneNote is a viable option for me.
