Cannot login to groupme (desktop, web version and app). It never sends the authorization pin.

That is most likely because you’re using Opera which is a Chrome based browser - please try using a non Chrome browser like Firefox. This problem has been fixed for others who can’t receive sms codes by using Firefox to request the code.
OK, downloaded and installed Firefox, used it for login, NO PIN!
Thanks for trying that. Unfortunately I’m out of options. Hopefully another user will have further suggestions.
I seem to be a bit closer to a solution. I signed up for a new account with a different phone number and the pin is finally sent to that phone. However, when I enter it, I get an error message in red that something went wrong. Try again, what to try it doesn't say.
This same setup (Opera browser) has been working for years!
The browser is not even open, still no pin!
If you’re using the web version then the browser is involved so my suggestion is still valid & as Opera is chrome based browser the problem would remain.
I am sorry that the steps did not resolve the issue. Please let me know if changing the browser to Firefox or another non Chrome browser worked.
I don't understand where the browser comes in when I'm trying to log into the app and groupme is supposed to send the pin but doesn't! There is no browser involved.
The app may use the default browser to access its services including log in.

Which browser are you using?
If Edge or other Chrome based browser then I would suggest using a non Chrome based browser like Firefox to send the sms code. Other have had success with this.
