Locked out of my account - 2FA error

My outlook account is blocked because of several unsuccessful password attempts.

I have 2 factor authentification set up. I have tried to reset my password by sending a verification code to my phone number. It sent the code in the first instance but once I entered the code, it then asked me to use a separate method. The separate method listed on the screen is the exact same phone number again. After I enter in the last four digits of my number for the second time, it results in an error message that reads, “this verification code isn’t working right now” and asks me to try another method. There are no other methods available.

After many attempts - spaced out over days and weeks, and attempted on my laptop and mobile phone -  I am stuck with the same error mesages and am unable to reset my password to enter my account.

Please advise how I can get past this error, reset my password, and enter my account.

Thank you.

    Hi Selçuk Bedük

Please try the remaining official options below.

    1) Stop repeating the same code request for now

Excessive or repeated requests to phone numbers or alternate emails can trigger a temporary block and prevent verification codes from working or being sent.

Close all sign-in windows, then try again using one clean session:

    • Open an InPrivate or Incognito browser window.
    • Go to Microsoft sign-in.
    • Try the reset or unlock flow again.
    • If possible, try a different network, such as mobile data instead of Wi-Fi.

    2) Use the Microsoft Sign-in Helper instead of repeating the same reset screen

Go to the Microsoft account sign-in helper | Microsoft Support and follow the guided path for your exact error.

    3) If the account shows as locked, use the locked-account unlock path

Go to your Microsoft account and sign in. If you see a locked-account screen with a Next option, follow the unlock process.

    4) If there is no Next option on the locked-account page

If the locked-account page shows a link beginning with aka.ms/, use that link and submit the reinstatement form shown there. After the form is submitted, a Microsoft Online Safety support agent reviews it and contacts you by email.

    5) If you still know the password but cannot pass security verification

Try signing in again and choose I don’t have any of these or Try another way, if shown. This may start the security information replacement flow.

If all security information is replaced, there is a 30-day waiting period before the new security information can be used. Please also fill in the ACSR form.

    7) If you have a recovery code or Microsoft Authenticator still signed in on another device

Check whether you saved a Microsoft recovery code when two-step verification was set up, or whether Microsoft Authenticator is still active on an old phone, tablet, or another device.

If one of those methods is still available, use it from Try another way or Other ways to sign in.

If all steps fail, contact Support via:

    • Visit Contact - Microsoft Support (Only chat support is available for personal account)
    • Type a brief description of your issue in the search box
    • Scroll down to the bottom > select Sign in to contact support
    • Log in to another available personal Microsoft account.
    • Under Products & Services, select "Other Products"; Under Categories, select "Manage account security", and click Confirm.
    • Click "Chat with a support agent in your web browser" (during business hours)

Thank you for understanding. Have a nice day !
