How can I recover Microsoft Excel on my Mac. I try to open it and it gives me an error and was terminated at launch. I've never had this problem before until today when I had to relaunch Microsoft Word as well. How do I relaunch Excel?

    Hi, Janice Abshire

This sounds like Excel is crashing during startup, here are some suggestions you can try:

Restart your Mac, then open Word and select Help > Check for Updates. Install all available Office updates and restart the Mac again.

Hold the Shift key while opening Excel. This may prevent startup items from loading.

If Excel still closes immediately, create a temporary macOS user account under System Settings > Users & Groups, sign into it, and test Excel. If it opens there, the problem is likely limited to your original Mac user profile.

If it also crashes in the new account, reinstall Excel using the same Microsoft account that owns the license. Reinstalling Excel has resolved similar launch failures.

Please also provide the exact error text, your macOS version, and your Excel version.

Thank you for your patience in reading, I hope this information has been helpful to you.
